Located at Al Bidda park in central Doha, the Expo site spans 170 hectares, split into the International Zone, the Family Zone and the Cultural Zone. More than 70 countries and international organisations are participating in the Horticultural Expo, which is the first of its kind to be organised in the Middle East and the first to be held in an arid climate.

Horticultural Expos have been recognised by the BIE since 1960 and are aimed at fostering cooperation and the sharing of knowledge and solutions between countries, horticultural producers and agricultural industry by addressing the paramount issues of healthy lifestyles, green economies, sustainable living, education and innovation. The previous Horticultural Expo took place in 2022 in Almere, the Netherlands under the theme “Growing Green Cities”. The following Horticultural Expo will take place in 2027 in Yokohama, Japan, under the theme “Scenery of the Future for Happiness”.
